Guest Lecturers

Dr Jennifer Leighton, is an Orthopaedic Surgeon and full-time Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at Dalhousie University. Having completed medical school at Dalhousie University, she then went on to complete Orthopaedic Residency at the University of Calgary, as well as a Fellowship in Adult Lower Extremity Reconstruction at Mount Sinai Hospital, University of Toronto. During fellowship and early career, she completed her MSc in Clinical Trials through the University of London, with a secondary focus in Health Economics. In addition to her clinical work, which focuses on primary and revision arthroplasty of the hip and knee, she also participates in the education of medical students, residents, and fellows at Dalhousie University. She is an active committee member at the Canadian Arthroplasty Society and the Canadian Orthopaedic Association, and a member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and the Canadian RSA Network.

Dr. David Stephen is an affiliate scientist at the Sunnybrook Research Institute and an Associate professor, department of surgery, University of Toronto. His clinical research is regarding traumatic musculoskeletal injuries. He specializes in primary lower extremity joint replacement, post-traumatic reconstruction and foot and ankle surgery.

Dr. Woodmass is an Orthopaedic Surgeon and Associate Professor at Pan Am Clinic, Winnipeg. He completed two years of subspecialty training in Sports Medicine at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota and Shoulder Reconstruction at Harvard University in Boston, Massachusetts, respectively.
Dr. Woodmass is President of the Arthroscopy Association of Canada (AAC). He is a CIHR funded researcher with over 70 peer reviewed publications. He has received numerous awards including the 2024 Houston Award and works as the Assistant Team Physician for the Winnipeg Jets Hockey Club.
